Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Are Dental Implants a more difficult, painful procedure?

A. No. Dental Implant procedures are done under local
anesthetic and are no different than any other dental
procedures.

Q. What is the difference between an implant and a bridge?

A.. An implant and a bridge are two completely different things even though both are used to replace missing teeth. The implant is a screw that is surgically placed into the jawbone where the tooth is missing. After healing is complete a post attachment is then placed over the implant and afterward, a crown is cemented over the implant post. The advantage of an implant is that it does not affect any other teeth. A bridge however, requires the grinding down of a tooth on each side of the missing tooth’s space. The abutment teeth, which have been ground down, are then used to support the bridge. The bridge is cemented over top of the grounded abutment teeth. The downfall with a bridge is that it is difficult to floss underneath the bridge and it costs more than an implant. Also sometimes, the side teeth can become more sensitive from being ground down and can have decay in the future.

Q. Will anyone be able to tell that I have an implant?

A. No. Implants are virtually undetectable. No one will ever know that you have an implant. It will look just like a natural tooth.

Q. Will I have to go to another dentist to have any of the implant work done?

A. No. We have our own dental laboratory on the premises and Dr. Kasem along with his highly trained technicians do all three phases of the implant process right in our office from the extraction to the implant placement, to the final restoration. You will never have to expend any additional time, money or gas to go to another office and we are about 30% less expensive than dentists across the country.

Q. I already have dentures and they move around in my mouth. Can implants help me?

A. Yes! Implants can be placed in the jaw and after the healing process is complete, dentures can be designed to attach to the implants. The Dental Implants will secure the dentures in place and they will be stable. This is all done right here in our Dental Implant Center. You will never have to use denture adhesive again. You will be able to speak and smile without ever worrying about the dentures slipping out of place again! You will once again be able to eat foods that you never thought you would be able to enjoy again such as steak, corn on the cob, nuts… and imagine biting into apples without having to cut them into small bite size pieces. The Dental Implants’ function and feel will improve your life like you never dreamed it could.

Q. How do I know you can save money?

A. The best way is to get an estimate from another dentist and we will give you a no charge appointment to discuss the options and fees with Dr. Kasem. Since he will be doing the whole procedure from implant surgery to placing the post and crown or attaching a denture with the implants (from beginning to end) and will not be buying commercial lab products from outside, that will automatically save you money. In our office, we do many small things to reduce the fees that turn out to be a huge savings at the end for you. Your dental treatment is designed according to your situation. All the options will be discussed so you can choose the right option for you. This is all about you and your finances. Dr. Kasem advises you and you make the final decisions. Our cost is less for several reasons. One reason is that we do all phases of reconstruction from extraction to implant placement to final restoration without referring separate areas of the work to outside offices. This saves you additional time, travelling and expense. The entire treatment is handled by only one doctor who is responsible for the outcome.

Q. How do I know the doctor is qualified enough?

A. Dr. Kasem has been placing implants for over 20 years. He received his implant training from Harvard University. He also attended the American Academy of Implant Dentistry Maxi Course in Implant Dentistry at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Kasem's success rate is almost 97%. Your satisfaction is guaranteed and your implant is w aranteed.
